Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India seeking a 7-day extension of his interim bail granted to him in connection to the Delhi liquor policy scam case. On May 10, 2024, the top Court granted interim bail to Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal till June 01, 2024, for campaigning during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The Delhi CM sought the interim bail extension as he has to undergo medical tests including a PET-CT Scan. He argued that these tests are important for his well-being and requested the SC to consider the extension for completing the medical investigations. Earlier on May 10, the SC bench constituting Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Datta granted him interim bail till June 01 and asked him to surrender on June 02, 2024. It said, “Let us not put in a straightjacket like that. We are passing an order giving him interim relief till June 1, 2024…”
