The Free Law website contains general information and knowledge ONLY. The information is not legal advice and should not be relied upon or interpreted as legal advice on any subject matter. If you require legal advice you should consult a qualified advocate.

Free Law is open both to members of the public and to legal professionals. Different features are available to different Users, and some warranties below apply only to those who register a professional account.

Public users. You may browse content, search judgments, submit a legal query, or use the "Talk to a Lawyer" service without holding a professional account. You confirm that any information you provide about yourself is true and that you are legally competent to enter into these terms.

Registered professionals. By registering on Free Law as a professional, you warrant that you are:

1. A licensed lawyer in good standing and practising within India, or a Law Student, or a Hon. Judge.
2. Competent to practise within the practice areas specified on the website and in full compliance with Indian law.
3. Not bound by or a party to any exclusive arrangement or agreement, whether contractual or otherwise, that would prohibit you from using the website and its associated services.
4. Willing to be contacted by De Jure by any available means, including but not limited to Email, WhatsApp, SMS or Phone.

Registered professionals have a duty to ensure that all information provided through Free Law is truthful, current, complete, and accurate. You are expressly prohibited from creating an account that impersonates another person, contains offensive or obscene language, or otherwise violates Indian law or the rights of a third party.

Free Law offers services that connect Users seeking assistance with advocates listed on the platform, including "Talk to a Lawyer" and the submission of legal queries. Where you use these services and provide your name, contact number or query, you consent to that information being shared with one or more advocates so that they may respond to or contact you. Advocates are independent third parties; De Jure does not select, endorse, or supervise the advice they provide and is not a party to any engagement you enter into with them.

Advocates who receive a User's details agree to use them only to respond to that specific request, to keep them confidential, and to comply with all applicable laws and Bar Council of India rules, including those relating to advertising and solicitation.

Some features may present information generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence ("AI"), including responses labelled as an "AI Adhivakta Legal Guide". AI-generated output is provided for general information only, may be incomplete or inaccurate, and must not be relied upon as legal advice or as a substitute for advice from a qualified advocate. Certain AI-assisted or paid guidance services are provided through De Jure's separate Adhivakta platform; where you are directed to that platform, the terms and privacy policy of that platform will additionally apply to your use of it.

A registered advocate may choose to be listed in the Free Law advocates directory. Listing is optional and is subject to the separate consent you provide at the time of opting in. You may add or remove your listing at any time from your account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you choose to publish.

De Jure reserves the right to restrict access to, suspend, disable, or delete any User or account at any time, in its sole discretion, and without prior warning. You warrant that your use of the website will comply with all applicable laws and professional ethics rules, whether local, state, national, or international.

You understand and agree that Free Law is a service provider and that no attorney-client relationship is created between you and De Jure through your use of the website or your registration. All information made available through Free Law is for informational purposes only and is not intended to substitute for the formation of a lawyer-client relationship with an advocate of your choosing.

This Agreement will remain in full force and effect until terminated. De Jure may terminate this Agreement without liability at any time, without notice, and for any reason, including but not limited to your violation of any term or condition of this Agreement.

De Jure disclaims any responsibility for any harm or liability arising out of or related to your use of the website or services obtained through the website. De Jure provides the website and any services on an as-is basis and without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, non-infringement, or quality.

De Jure will not be held liable or responsible for any content posted on the website, including but not limited to any advice provided by any advocate or any AI-generated output. De Jure is a service provider and DISCLAIMS responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, destruction of identity, unauthorized access or alteration thereof. De Jure reserves the right to discontinue the website at any time.

This Agreement will be interpreted and governed by Indian law, and any claim or dispute that you may have against De Jure will be dealt with exclusively by the courts at the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.

De Jure may change, modify, amend, suspend, terminate, or replace these terms and any other policies from time to time and within its sole and absolute discretion. Where these terms are changed, the effective date shown above will be updated. Your continued use of the website after a change in the effective date of these terms constitutes your assent to the change, modification, amendment, or replacement contained within.

De Jure undertakes commercially reasonable efforts to help protect against the unauthorized disclosure of your personal information. Although De Jure takes the security of your personal information very seriously, it cannot guarantee that its servers and website will be completely secure. Free Law offers an optional paid premium membership for advocates. The features, price, and validity period of the membership are those displayed on the premium membership page at the time of purchase. Membership is for a fixed term and does not renew automatically; you may choose to renew before or after expiry on the terms then offered, which may include a renewal discount where applicable.

In the case of paid services, no refunds are applicable unless expressly agreed upon in writing by De Jure.

Users may cancel their accounts at any time by logging in to their account or by contacting De Jure at [email protected]. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not, by itself, entitle you to a refund of fees already paid for the current term.
