In Brief
A veterinary officer in Manipur challenged her retirement on superannuation at age 60 and sought extension to age 62 based on a notification issued after her retirement. The Supreme Court held that the notification of 22.09.2018 enhancing the superannuation age from 60 to 62 years could not be applied retrospectively to an officer who had already retired on 28.02.2018. The Court also found no merit in the officer's claim for automatic promotion based on her 10 years of posting in difficult areas, holding that such experience is a mandatory prerequisite, not an automatic entitlement. The petition was dismissed."
