New Delhi, April 30, 2026 — In a major development regarding the ongoing ₹30,000 crore estate dispute, the Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to the children of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor and the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur.

Justice Jyoti Singh restrained Sunjay's widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, from creating third-party rights or dissipating the assets left behind by the late industrialist until the authenticity of the will is decided by the court.

Key Highlights of the Order
Preservation of Estate: The court ruled that the estate must be preserved while the trial is underway. Because the trial will take time, the court determined that the assets must be protected against alienation.

Burden of Proof: Noting the "suspicious circumstances" raised by the children and Rani Kapur (Sunjay's mother), the court placed the onus on Priya Kapur to dispel these doubts and prove the will's validity.
Asset Freezes and Restrictions: Priya Kapur is barred from transferring, pledging, or altering the equity and shareholding of the late industrialist's Indian companies. She is also restricted from withdrawing money from specific Indian bank accounts, with an exception for discharging liabilities owed to the children under their parents' divorce decree.

Digital and Foreign Assets: The operation of Sunjay Kapur's foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrency holdings has been frozen. Furthermore, the withdrawal of the provident fund amount and alienation of personal effects, including artworks, are restricted.

Exclusions: The High Court clarified that these interim directions do not extend to immovable properties held by the deceased abroad.

Background of the Dispute
The legal battle stems from a civil suit filed by Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapur, the children of Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur, challenging a will dated March 21, 2025, that purportedly leaves the entire personal estate to Priya Kapur.

The Children's Claims: Represented by Karisma Kapoor, the children allege that the will is forged, fabricated, and was concealed for several weeks following Sunjay Kapur’s sudden death in the United Kingdom in June 2025. They have asked the court to recognize them as Class I legal heirs and grant a one-fifth share each in the assets.

Defense Arguments: Senior advocates representing Priya Kapur strongly denied allegations of forgery and asset concealment, arguing that a comprehensive list of assets was disclosed and that the will is valid.

The matter remains under judicial scrutiny as the court seeks to resolve the validity of the estate's distribution.

Discription: The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to the children of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, restraining their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, from dissipating the assets of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur. The dispute centers on a purported 2025 will that leaves Sunjay Kapur’s entire personal estate to Priya Kapur.

Represented by Karisma Kapoor, the children allege that the will is forged and was concealed following Sunjay’s sudden death in June 2025. Justice Jyoti Singh noted that serious suspicions surrounding the will's authenticity shift the burden of proof to Priya Kapur.

Consequently, the court restrained Priya Kapur from transferring or alienating the equity of Sunjay's Indian companies, personal effects, and artworks. It also restricted her from withdrawing from specific Indian bank accounts and froze foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrencies, while excluding foreign immovable properties from the order.
