The Top Court agreed to continue the offline appearance from 14th of this month regarding decline in face of the pandemic positive rate in Delhi and surrounding areas.
An official announcement made by the secretary general of the Apex court mentioned this crucial decision on behalf of CJI NV Ramana and other major judges in the committee.
This major setback ruling came after huge improvement in decreasing numbers of pandemic cases and increase in negative rate of tests. Few days back the government of Delhi and DDMA also released a press statement that the virus effect in the city is completely getting reduced and vaccination of booster dose for adults and 1st and 2nd doses for children have already started and are going successfully.
Apex court said offline appearing before court gonna be two days a week I.e on Wednesday and Thursday. Dual mode hearing is gonna continue on other days as usual.
"In view of a significant decline in the number of COVID-19 cases and positivity rate, and in the light of the various instructions issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, Government of NCT of Delhi vide Order dated February 4, 2022, the Chief Justice of India, in consultation with the Committee of Judges, has been pleased to direct that the Modified Standard Operating Procedure notified on October 7, 2021, for hearing before the Court shall stand revived, and all hearings before the Court from February 14, 2022, shall be in accordance with the said Modified Standard Operating Procedure notified on October 7, 2021," the announcement made by Secretary General of Supreme Court of India.
The Omicron variant at worst fully declined the official physical hearings of the top court with a lot of justices and a huge number of staff of Supreme Court of India were affected due to this period pandemic. Increasing pandemic made the top court stop hearing physically now the twice-a-week offline appearances are gonna start after a long duration. The SC mostly heard and functioned through online mode for a lengthy period after the Government of India’s lockdown announcement from 2020.
