The Top court today ordered AG K.K. Venugopal to discuss with the Union government regarding the aid of Indian students believed to be stuck without proper eatables, drinking water, and money at the border of Ukraine as the issues between Ukraine and Russia became worse.

A Bench headed by CJI called for the AG, the highest legal officer of the union, when a lawyer from Kashmir made an urgent hearing on behalf of a girl student who, he mentioned, was among a group of 30 trapped at the border.

CJI said to AG “Please use your good offices and talk to the government”.

AG, Accepted to do so.

CJI told the petitioner that all of us have a soft corner for the students who struck at the border of Ukraine. We feel for students. Multiple deaths have also been registered, but can I order the Russian president to stop the war? The union government is already making some efforts to evacuate Indian students.

The Attorney General also informed the benchmark that a minister is presently at the country of Romania, helping with the evacuation. Indian students who crossed the border were being given assistance and evacuated via relief planes

The CJI NV Ramana had also mentioned about the social media posts questioning the judiciary's silence regarding this issue like “What is the Chief Justice doing? Why is he not ordering the Russian president ?” the CJI had said exasperatedly.

The bench ordered the student’s advocate to give a copy of his petition to the AG.
