Section 283 BNSS Modified BNS s ections replace Corresponding IPC s ections. Sub section (2) is newly added with a proviso to it for trial of offences punishable with three or less than three years in a summary way. Provided that no appeal shall lie against the decision of a Magistrate to try a case in a summary way under this sub - section.

Section 260 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 deals with power to try summarily. Under the new law this is Section 283 of the BNSS.
