Section 37 BNSS Modified Sub - sections (2) and (3) of the CrPC are merged in (1) (b), and provision is given for designating a police officer not below the rank of Assistant Sub - Inspector for the said purpose.

Section 41C of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 deals with designated Police Officer. Under the new law this is Section 37 of the BNSS.
