Akshay Kumar Singh sought review of his conviction in a criminal case involving charges under the IPC including criminal conspiracy and sexual offences. He alleged violation of the right to life and challenged the investigation and the court's rejection of his alibi defence. The Supreme Court dismissed the review petition, holding that review is not a vehicle for re-hearing appeals or reappreciating evidence. Since the same grounds had been considered threadbare and rejected in earlier review petitions filed by co-accused, they could not be raised repeatedly. No error apparent on the face of the record was demonstrated.
