Ambalal Parihar filed eight First Information Reports against respondents, who then obtained interim relief through a civil writ petition seeking to consolidate all FIRs into one, despite having had similar relief denied in criminal writ petitions before the assigned roster judge. The Supreme Court held this constituted gross abuse of process and forum hunting. The Court emphasized that judges must strictly follow the Chief Justice's judicial roster and cannot entertain cases not assigned to them. Filing a substantively criminal petition as a civil writ to avoid an unfavourable roster judge is improper. The appeal was allowed, the civil petition dismissed, and costs of ₹50,000 imposed.
