Anand Kumar Sharma, a qualified medical doctor, was enrolled as an advocate in Himachal Pradesh in 1988 but his enrolment was cancelled in 1995 by the Bar Council of India for suppressing material facts—including criminal proceedings and government service—at the time of enrolment. The Supreme Court affirmed the cancellation. Sharma made multiple subsequent attempts to obtain enrolment in Rajasthan. The Supreme Court held that repeated attempts after a Supreme Court-affirmed cancellation constitute abuse of process and should not be entertained. The orders refusing re-enrolment were upheld and the appeals dismissed.
