Ashish Kumar Yadav & Ors vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Ors

Bench: 3 — Kurian

In Brief

Police Constable candidates in Uttar Pradesh who were alleged to have used whitener, blade, or eraser during examination sought relief similar to that granted to Sub-Inspector candidates in an earlier Supreme Court judgment (Hanuman Dutt Shukla, 2016). The appellants argued the benefit of that judgment was not extended to them fairly. The Supreme Court disposed of the appeals by requesting the High Court to expeditiously dispose of pending writ petitions filed by such candidates within three months, and permitted other similarly situated candidates to approach the High Court for consolidated consideration.
