Bhim Singh was arrested on charges of cheating and forgery under IPC sections 420, 467, 468, and 120B. After his bail was granted by the Sessions Court in June 2016, the complainant filed unregistered complaints alleging intimidation. The High Court cancelled the bail, partly citing that the accused had not returned the alleged money. The Supreme Court held that unregistered complaints filed immediately after bail grant do not inspire confidence and provide insufficient grounds for cancellation. The Court emphasized that non-return of money and mere allegations of intimidation cannot justify bail cancellation. The appeal was allowed and bail was restored.
