In Brief
The BCCI appealed against directions to implement cricket administration reforms recommended by the Justice Lodha Committee and accepted by the Supreme Court on 18 July 2016. The Court found that BCCI had obstructed compliance, including its President's request to the ICC for a letter questioning the legitimacy of CAG nominee appointments after the Court's judgment. The Court held that BCCI is bound by the judgment immediately and cannot condition compliance on pending petitions. It issued additional directions: cessation of fund transfers to non-compliant state associations, appointment of independent auditors for BCCI's finances and contracts, and mandatory compliance affidavits. BCCI was granted a final opportunity until 3 December 2016 to demonstrate good faith compliance before administrators might be appointed.
