In Brief
This appeal concerns the rights of family members in Hindu joint family properties sold by the family's Karta (manager). The trial court found that Defendant No. 31, as Karta, validly sold scheduled properties for legal necessity and received adequate consideration. The High Court erroneously held that the Defendant's family members retained a 3/4th share. The Supreme Court allowed the appeal, holding that once the Karta validly sells joint family property for legal necessity with adequate consideration, the family members have no remaining right in those properties.
