Citizens Resource & Action Initiative (CRANTI) filed a Petition for Special Leave to Appeal against the State of Gujarat. On 3 March 2017, the three-judge bench directed respondents who had not yet filed counter-affidavits to do so within two weeks. The Additional Solicitor General undertook to coordinate with relevant departments to prepare a concrete proposal within the same period.
