Farhan Abdul Malik Khot vs State of Maharashtra

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

A man convicted under terrorism, arms, and explosives laws and sentenced to life imprisonment in one count and ten years in another sought bail pending his appeal. Although imprisoned for approximately nine years, both the High Court and Supreme Court declined to grant regular bail due to the serious nature of his convictions. However, the Court extended his interim bail for three months to allow him to care for his mother, who was suffering from terminal cancer with no curative treatment available. The Court verified medical reports through State authorities before allowing continuation of this limited bail on humanitarian grounds."
