The Supreme Court declined to modify a bail condition restricting an accused's movement to districts where most witnesses reside. The accused faced serious charges including conspiracy, forgery, and criminal breach of trust in a CBI investigation. Although the accused had complied with bail terms for six years, the Court maintained the restriction based on credible apprehensions of witness influence and the accused's previous attempts to influence investigating officers. However, the Court directed the trial court to proceed on a day-to-day basis and complete the trial within six months, and permitted the accused a brief stay in Bellary for humanitarian reasons (attending a newborn grandchild) until the trial commenced."
