Global Cement Ltd and others challenged a High Court order in suo moto contempt proceedings that directed them to deposit an amount allegedly in terms of a Single Judge's order. The Supreme Court found that no such direction for deposit existed in the original order. The Court set aside the impugned order and remitted the matter to the High Court's Division Bench, allowing both parties to raise all contentions afresh without the Supreme Court deciding the merits of the contempt proceedings.
