The Supreme Court, hearing the wife's special leave petition, disagreed with the reduction. Finding the Trial Court's amount reasonable based on the husband's salary, the Court enhanced maintenance back to Rs. 10,000 monthly. The Court also directed that Rs. 5 lakh deposited before it be released to the wife within one week and urged the Trial Court to conclude the divorce within three months.
