In Brief
This Supreme Court order addresses systemic issues in prosecuting child sexual abuse cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Observing large numbers of POCSO cases pending throughout India, the Court directed establishment of exclusive POCSO Courts under a central government-funded scheme. The Court also ordered that interconnected POCSO cases continue before the same court for judicial efficiency. Additionally, the order addresses the medical care of an injured advocate, directing his transfer from AIIMS to another hospital with continued free treatment and physiotherapy at State expense.
