The Supreme Court allowed an application for intervention to modify its April 2020 COVID-19 pandemic directions. Recognizing the improved situation by October 2020, the Court modified earlier orders by directing that video conferencing in High Courts and district courts shall be governed by Rules framed by each High Court, covering appellate proceedings and trials. The Court found video conferencing had been extremely successful in ensuring access to justice. Pending framing of formal Rules, High Courts may adopt model Video Conferencing Rules provided by the Supreme Court's E-Committee.
