During the COVID-19 pandemic in June 2020, the Supreme Court issued directions to address deficiencies in hospital patient care across Delhi and other States. The Court found that while guidelines for COVID-19 management existed, faithful implementation was lacking. It directed the constitution of expert committees for weekly hospital inspections, installation of CCTV cameras in wards, uniform discharge policies, reasonable testing rates, and accessible patient helpdesks. The Court emphasized that constant supervision and monitoring by state committees is essential to ensure guidelines are strictly followed and patient care standards are maintained across the country."
