In Brief
Keisham Meghachandra Singh and others challenged their disqualification before the Manipur Legislative Assembly. The Supreme Court held that while a Five Judge Bench had already addressed similar disqualification issues, the Speaker retains a duty to decide pending disqualification petitions. The Court directed the Speaker to deliver decisions on the pending disqualifications within four weeks, with liberty for parties to approach the Court if the decision remains outstanding beyond that period. The appeals were partly allowed on this basis.
