A widow inherited half of an agricultural property from her deceased husband and later settled it on her nephews through a family arrangement, which was affirmed by court decree. The widow's husband's relatives challenged the decree, arguing the nephews were strangers and the decree required registration. The Supreme Court held that the decree relating to the subject-matter of the suit did not require registration under Section 17(2)(vi) of the Registration Act, and nephews of the widow constituted family members capable of entering a valid family settlement, being potential heirs under the Hindu Succession Act, 1956. The appeal was dismissed.
