Lakshmi @ Lakshmamma & Ors vs Chamundamma & Ors

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

This case involved a long-standing dispute between two wives of a deceased person (Javaranaika) concerning compassionate appointment and various benefits and property. The Supreme Court intervened and, with the consent of both parties, proposed a division whereby one wife (Respondent No. 3/Revanna Naika J.) would receive the benefit of compassionate appointment while the other wife (Appellant No. 1/Lakshmi @ Lakshmamma) would receive all other benefits and property. Both parties agreed to this settlement. The Court disposed of the appeal accordingly, directing the relevant authority to process the compassionate appointment within two weeks and confirming continuation of the appellant's pension."
