Managing Director, U.P. Rajya Sahakari Krishi Evam Gramya Vikas Bank Ltd & Anr vs Subhash Chandra Awasthi & Anr

Bench: 2 — Anil R. Dave

In Brief

A cooperative bank challenged a lower court's compensation award against it. The Supreme Court, considering the facts and citing relevant precedent, determined that Rs. 75,000 constituted just and adequate compensation payable to the respondent employee. The court directed the bank to send an account payee cheque by speed post and set aside the lower court's order. The respondent retained the right to reject the amount and seek reconsideration by the court if unsatisfied. The appeal was allowed with no costs awarded.
