In Brief
The Supreme Court of India addressed governance and security issues at the Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala. The Court held that security of temple properties shall remain with the existing Superintendent of Police and his team of 200 personnel. The Court clarified roles: the Administrative Committee decides policy, the Executive Officer (IAS) implements decisions and serves as Member Secretary answerable to the Committee. A financial controller from the Audit and Accounts Service shall oversee accounts with quarterly reports. The Court also reconstituted the Selection Committee for temple construction works, appointing retired Justice K.S.P. Radhakrishnan as Chairman to expedite selection of contractors and oversight of repairs to the deity before the monsoon season."
