Mukesh & Anr vs State for NCT of Delhi & Ors

Bench: 3 — Dipak Misra, Ashok Bhushan, R. Banumathi

In Brief

After the offence, she and her male companion were thrown from the bus. The victim died from injuries caused by the insertion of iron rods in her private parts. The Court upheld the death sentence, holding the crime fell within the 'rarest of rare cases' category. The decision affirmed convictions for gang rape, murder, criminal conspiracy, and other offences. The Court emphasised the extremely brutal manner of the crime, its diabolic nature, and that it shocked the collective conscience of society.
