In Brief
N. Srinivas Goud was selected in 1999 for appointment as a Multipurpose Health Assistant (Male) in Telangana but was not appointed due to pending litigation affecting the selection. He worked on contract basis from 2003 onwards in the same position. The Supreme Court held that since vacancies currently exist in the post, it is in the interest of justice to appoint the appellant against one such vacancy. The Court set aside the High Court's order and allowed the appeal, directing appointment within two months, and clarified this decision applies only to the peculiar facts of this case.
