OLX India B.V vs State of Haryana & Ors

Bench: 3 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

OLX India, an online marketplace platform, challenged interim directions issued by the High Court of Punjab and Haryana that would have required mandatory ID verification, property documentation, and local certificates before any advertisement could be posted. The Supreme Court quashed the High Court's interim directions, holding that the Court should not have imposed such substantial operational requirements on the platform without first hearing its arguments. The Court noted that as an internet intermediary, OLX cannot be held responsible for certifying the genuineness of transactions or guaranteeing product quality. The appeal was allowed."
