P. Chidambaram vs Directorate of Enforcement

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

P. Chidambaram sought interim protection and anticipatory bail in two cases: a CBI case under IPC Sections 120-B and 420 and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and an Enforcement Directorate case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. The High Court had refused anticipatory bail in both. The Supreme Court adjourned the CBI case for full hearing but granted interim protection in the ED case until the next hearing, noting the petitioner's previous interim protection (from July 2018) and cooperation with authorities, and that co-accused had been granted bail.
