Pune Municipal Corporation sought to acquire land reserved as a bus depot under a 1987 Development Plan sanctioned under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act. The respondent Housing Society challenged the acquisition, arguing the change from "parking" to "bus depot" required fresh public objections. The High Court set aside the notification. The Supreme Court held that such a change is not substantial under Section 31 of the MRTP Act, and since objections were already invited in 1982, no fresh objections were legally required. The Court allowed the appeal and set aside the High Court's judgment."
