A sugar mill challenged a Labour Court award for reinstatement of a dismissed worker and payment of wages. The employer had deposited money before the Labour Court as required, which was placed in a fixed deposit earning interest. The Supreme Court upheld the award and ruled that the worker is entitled to the entire accrued interest on the deposited amount, with only the principal sum returned to the employer. The appeal was disposed of accordingly.
