Ram Janam Kumar vs Ram Chandra Singh & Ors

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

The Supreme Court reviewed a criminal appeal concerning the conviction and sentencing of respondents for the murder of Ramdani Singh. The trial court had convicted them under Section 304-II IPC (death caused by act endangering life) with seven years rigorous imprisonment. The High Court reduced this to Section 325 IPC (causing hurt) with sentence limited to time served. The Supreme Court modified the High Court's order, holding that given the vital injuries including head wounds, rigorous imprisonment for three years under Section 304-II was appropriate. The appeal was partly allowed and the respondents directed to surrender for the remaining sentence."
