Relax India Pvt. Ltd. and Anr vs Eastern Book Company and Ors

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

Relax India sought permission to publish raw court judgments with their own editorial additions. The Supreme Court allowed the appeal, holding that appellants may freely publish, sell and distribute raw judgments of the Supreme Court and other courts from any source, along with their own head-notes, editorial notes, and explanatory commentary. This right was established in the landmark Eastern Book Company v. D.B. Modak decision. The trial court was also directed to expedite ongoing proceedings.
