Sankalp Charitable Trust & Anr vs Union of India & Ors

Bench: 3 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

The Sankalp Charitable Trust sought mandamus to direct the respondents to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical and dental admission in 2016-17. All respondents assured the Court they were ready to hold NEET as per notifications dated 21 December 2010. The Court recorded this assurance and held that NEET would proceed with AIPMT 2016 on 1 May 2016 (Phase I) and a second phase on 24 July 2016. The Court clarified this order would operate notwithstanding any earlier court order against holding NEET, as the Christian Medical College judgment suspending NEET had been recalled.
