Sartaj Khan, aged 30, approached a 15-year-old Nepali girl at a bus stand and enticed her with promises of shopping and sightseeing in India. He took her across the Indo-Nepal border into India where police intercepted them. He was convicted of human trafficking, kidnapping, child abuse, and criminal intimidation. The trial court acquitted him, but the High Court set aside the acquittal. The Supreme Court upheld the conviction, finding no bar under Section 188 CrPC (as the offence was not wholly committed outside India), confirming the victim was below 18 through medical examination, and affirming that she was deliberately lured despite initially travelling on her own to meet an uncle.
