Sekar vs State

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

Sekar and three co-accused were convicted of murdering Dhanpal at Marina Beach on 1 July 2005. The victim's daughter witnessed the stabbing and lodged an FIR. She identified all four assailants during a Test Identification Parade comprising 50-60 people. The motive was disagreement over community trust administration and festival performance frequency. Despite the defence suggesting she was in her office (due to an absent card swipe), the Court found her eyewitness testimony credible and reliable. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, affirming the High Court's judgment and the sentences of life imprisonment and one year rigorous imprisonment."
