In Brief
Akhila, a student whose internship had been interrupted, sought to resume her BHMS (Bachelors of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) course at a college in Tamil Nadu. The Supreme Court conducted an in-camera interview to understand her wishes and qualifications. Finding that she had clearly expressed her desire to continue her studies and become a homeopathic doctor, the Court allowed her petition and directed the college to admit her and provide hostel accommodation. The State was directed to arrange her travel and provide plainclothes policewomen as requested for security. The NIA investigation was permitted to continue, and the matter was listed for further hearing in January 2018."
