The State of Jammu and Kashmir sought special leave to appeal against a 2017 High Court judgment in a writ petition filed by the Provincial Power Employees Union. The Supreme Court, upon fixing a hearing date, directed the Registry to take steps for substituted service through the petitioner-State's counsel to ensure proper notice to respondents, to be completed preferably within three days of the order.
