State of Karnataka vs State of T. Nadu & Ors

Bench: 3 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

In this inter-state water dispute between Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala concerning allocation under an award, Tamil Nadu filed interlocutory applications seeking to restrict Kerala's water use to its allocated share and halt certain constructions. Kerala's counsel represented that Kerala would not exceed its allocation and that constructions would serve only to utilize the allocated water. The Court accepted these undertakings and disposed of the interlocutory applications by directing Kerala to communicate its position in writing within two weeks, while listing the main appeals for final hearing on 11 July 2017.
