A woman accused her husband (a naval officer), his parents, and several naval officers of domestic violence and sexual abuse. She sought to transfer the related court cases from Kerala's High Court to Delhi's High Court and demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) take over the police investigation, claiming the Kerala authorities were biased and corrupt. The Supreme Court dismissed both requests, holding that mere allegation of accused being influential does not justify transfer between States. It also held that the CBI can only investigate exceptional cases with proven systemic failure, not on general complaints. The Court directed Kerala's police to constitute a senior-level investigation team instead.
