In Brief
A police officer was convicted of murder based on circumstantial evidence after an unidentified body was discovered near a canal. The prosecution established that the appellant was last seen with the deceased, a revolver issued to the appellant was recovered, and forensic evidence showed the fatal bullet was fired from that revolver. The appellant's defence of suspension and planted evidence lacked corroboration. While the prosecution did not establish a motive, the Court held that absence of motive is not fatal to a circumstantial case when other evidence creates a complete chain pointing to guilt. The conviction and life sentence were upheld, dismissing the appeal.
