A wife challenged a divorce decree granted to her husband on grounds of alleged mental cruelty. The husband claimed nine instances of cruelty, most relating to his wife's alleged rude behavior towards his family, occurring between 1999 and 2010. The Supreme Court allowed the wife's appeal, holding that the alleged incidents were either isolated, stale, or had been condoned through the couple's continued cohabitation until 2006 (including the birth of their second daughter in 2006). The Court ruled that cruelty requires recurring or continuing incidents proximate to the petition filing, not isolated events 8-10 years old. The divorce decree was dismissed, and the wife's petition for restitution of conjugal rights was instead allowed, as the husband had withdrawn without reasonable cause.">
