In Brief
This Special Leave Petition concerns an interim order by the Telangana High Court restraining the release of the film 'Jhund' on OTT platforms. The petitioner (T Series) had earlier settled disputes with respondents via a compromise decree (₹5 crore), and the film was released theatrically in March 2022. When a respondent sought recall of the compromise (alleging fraud) and filed a writ petition, both were dismissed. Nevertheless, the High Court issued a status quo order on OTT release. The Supreme Court held the interim order violated balance-of-convenience principles and was legally unsustainable where a valid compromise subsisted and the claim was merely monetary. The Court stayed the High Court's order pending final determination.
