The Supreme Court set aside a High Court's bail order granted to accused persons charged with money laundering and drug trafficking offences. The Court held that the High Court failed to comply with mandatory requirements of Section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, which requires the prosecutor to be given opportunity to oppose bail and the court to be satisfied the accused is not guilty and unlikely to reoffend. These conditions are binding on all courts, including the High Court, and override general bail provisions in the Criminal Procedure Code. The appeal was allowed and the respondents were ordered to be arrested forthwith."}
