The Supreme Court examined petitions challenging the validity of the NEET (UG) 2024 examination following a confirmed leak of question papers at two centres affecting approximately 155 students. The petitioners sought cancellation and re-conduct of the entire test. The Court held that while the leak was real and localised, available data from 4,750 centres across 571 cities showed no systemic breach or impact on the overall examination integrity. Since fraudulent beneficiaries could be identified and segregated, complete cancellation was unjustified and would harm over 2 million students. The Court also ruled on a disputed physics question, accepting an expert panel's determination that one specific answer was correct. Individual grievances remained open for High Court consideration.
