Vicky @ Vikas vs State (Govt. of NCT of Delhi)

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

The appellant, Vicky, appealed challenging consecutive sentences imposed for offences under the Indian Penal Code (Sections 392, 394, 397). He had already served over 10 years in prison and faced an additional 9 years of consecutive sentences. The High Court had rejected his appeal noting his involvement in sixteen criminal cases and habitual criminal nature. The Supreme Court, however, granted partial relief. Considering the appellant's substantial time served, seriously ill mother, family circumstances, and a favorable probation officer's report, the Court exercised discretion to direct the sentences run concurrently. The fines were also set aside.
