In Brief
In this criminal appeal, the Supreme Court addressed the transfer of a dowry-related FIR registered in Lucknow to the district of Fatehpur. The appellant sought to consolidate two separate FIRs (registered in different districts against him by his estranged wife) into a single proceeding. The High Court had rejected this application. The Supreme Court allowed the appeal, directing the transfer and consolidation of FIR No. 80/2013 (Lucknow) with FIR No. 289/2013 (Fatehpur) to be tried together by a single trial judge. This ensured judicial efficiency and prevented harassment through multiplicity of proceedings arising from the same matrimonial dispute.
